LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY


A cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. A cholecystectomy may be indicated as treatment for stones in the bile duct or gallbladder, polyps in the gallbladder, when the gallbladder is inflamed, or as treatment for pancreatitis.

HERNIA REPAIR


A hernia repair is done to repair a localized bulge, in the abdomen or groin. A hernia occurs when an organ or fatty tissue pushes through a weak gap or opening in the muscle that contains it. A hernia repair is generally advised when it causes pain, discomfort or when it becomes trapped or strangulated.

THYROIDECTOMY


A thyroidectomy is the surgical removal of the thyroid gland. The thyroid may be removed for a number of reasons such as treatment of over-active thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or to remove thyroid nodules, a goitre or thyroid cancer.

Treatment of cancer may involve a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. Depending on the size, location, stage and type of tumour present, cancer found in the breast may be removed through a mastectomy or lumpectomy by Dr Kruger.

COLON RESECTION SURGERY


Colon resection surgery may be indicated as part of treatment for inflammatory bowel disease, to remove a bowel obstruction, or to remove a tumour from the large intestine. How much of the colon will be removed will depend on the severity of the case.

GASTROSCOPY


A gastroscopy is a procedure done to investigate and treat a range of conditions affecting the upper-gastrointestinal tract which includes the oesophagus, stomach and the small intestine. This is done by inserting an endoscope fitted with a camera, down the throat.

COLONOSCOPY


A colonoscope is a thin flexible tool with a camera and light at the end used to view the internal structures. It is used to diagnose and treat various conditions of the large intestine including the cause for abdominal pain, rectal bleeding and chronic constipation, as well as screen for growths, lesions and tumours in the colon and rectum.
